Hardware and software system “Safe city” as a tool to counteract crime

The article examines the problem of using the system of hardware and software complex “Safe City” to combat crime in the regions of Russia. The history of the development of the project of hardware-software system “Safe City” and the formation of its regulatory framework is revealed, the provisions of the draft federal law “On a single system ‘Safe City’” are analyzed. Primary directions of this system deployment, which are currently the most actual for counteraction to crime, are formulated. Prospective directions of using this system in the regions of Russia with a projected increase in criminal activity are considered. Possible ways of achieving the goal of reducing the crime rate with the use of hardware and software complex “Safe City” are offered.
