Archeological practice in the system of scientific-research and educational work (on experience activities by West Siberian squad of North Asia complex expedition, IAET, SB RAS)

Purpose. Archaeological field practice is an integral part of training would-be historians, culture experts and museum consultants. Its main objectives are to consolidate, deepen, expand students' knowledge of archaeology and history of Siberia gained at lectures and seminars; plant foundations of professional skills in organizing work of an archaeological expedition, including field and financial documenting, initial laboratory processing of the materials, field restoration and conservation of findings, interpretation of the data obtained; develop professional skills necessary for independent researchers. The West Siberian archaeological team (squad) of the North Asia complex expedition of IAET, SB RAS headed by the academician of RAS, Deputy Director of IAET, SB RAS, V. I. Molodin is one of the units which provides archaeological field practice for students of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (since 1973) and Novosibirsk State University (since 1974). The stated objectives of field archaeological practices in recent years are being implemented on the sites (settlements and cemeteries) of the Vengerovo archaeological district (Novosibirsk region). Results. The team includes specialists of different qualifications. Field work is carried out using advanced techniques of field investigation with the latest equipment. The process of archaeological practice can be divided into two main stages: the preparatory one and that directly associated with work in the field. Instructors of Novosibirsk State University developed a set of necessary procedures for implementing the tasks of the preparatory stage, whose conduct is required of the representatives of other universities. In the course of the archaeological practice, the team solves a number of research, educational and educational objectives. Students gain skills related to archaeological explorations, excavations of settlements and burial grounds, participate in laboratory pro cessing of materials, work out a tour and lecture program explaining the process and results of their research work. Archaeological practice plays a big role in developing collectivism, research skills and scientific interests of would-be experts. Conclusion. The experience and traditions of archaeological practice accumulated by the West Siberian archaeological squad are an important part of preparing specialists (bachelors) in the field of archaeology, history and research consulting.
