Archaeological research on the site of Otrar and its surroundings revealed a number of medieval necropolises of the city of Otrar at different times. The necropolis of the Karakhanid period are found outside the walls of the rabad, on the north-west and south sides of the city. The north-western necropolis began immediately outside the rabad's fortifications, and occupied an ob-wide area. It is difficult to establish the exact parameters of the necropolis at the present time, since he suffered a man-made destruction. The cemetery is fully leveled with the construction of houses and the construction of household plots, an asphalt road is laid through it, a modern channel cuts through. According to local residents, many remains were excavated during the digging of the canal, as well as during the construction of the water tower in the village of Talapta. Residents when working in the garden constantly stumble upon human remains.
