The authors present the value foundations of the epic of Vaclav Michalsky “Spring in Carthage” (2001-2011), based on the history of the Merzlovsky family split by the socio-historical upheavals of the XX century, which is a symbol of Russia itself and the Russian world in the XX - early XXI century. The appeal to the invariants of the archetype of the House, which are the “core” of the traditional value paradigm, presented in the cycle of novels, allows us to point out the value foundations of a landmark work of Russian literature, explain the role of the House in the long-suffering human destinies and history of Russia, understand the origins of genuine patriotism and the originality of the Russian cultural code. House-family is one of the key invariants of the archetype of the House in the epic of V.V. Mikhalsky's “Spring in Carthage”, embodied in the images of members of the Merzlovsky family, supporting the House-temple, House-Ship, House-city, House-culture, House-homeland (House-Russia). The destinies of people, the history of the family, the history of the people and the state, personal and historical memory, culture and art, everyday and existential, spiritual and material, spiritual ideals and national will, the dignity and achievements of the Fatherland are forever united in the image of the House-family. It is the family, the sacred union of love, faith and freedom that in any epoch remains a gracious, saving island of spiritual life, joy and happiness.
