The arctic: the political and philosophical analysis

The study analyzes various aspects of the phenomenon of the Arctic. The historical aspect reflects the complexities of its development from the 16th century up to the present. The philosophical one is represented by the mythological, anthropological, civilizational, and epistemological facets. The economic aspect involves its methodological and functional discourses. The legal and diplomatic one reveals different national policies in the Arctic region. The strategic military aspect describes Arctic military policy, strategy, and practice of Russia and the USA in the first place. Each of these aspects can be used as a methodology for developing and implementing the policy of the Russian Federation in this region in the medium and long term. The author concludes that Russian authorities should be thoroughly prepared for the confrontation with other countries claiming to use the Arctic resources and territories.
