In this study, we genotyped Ala16Val (rs4880) polymorphism in SOD2 gene in two groups of men: the first group included men with coronary artery disease (n=155); the second group (control group) consisted of a population sample of Tomsk men (n=129). Genotyping was performed using the analysis of restriction fragment length polymorphism of amplification products. We found significantly higher allele T frequency in men with coronary artery disease (54.84%) compared with control group (44.14% %) (2=5.998; p=0.014; OR=1.54). The frequency of genotype TT in men with coronary artery disease was 27.10% and in men from control group - 17.97% (2=7.265; p=0.026; OR=1.70). Therefore, the allele T and genotype TT are associated with coronary artery disease in men from Russian population.
