The article is devoted to the study of the marriage policy of the Hunnic leader Attila and continues P. V. Shuvalov’s research on the political biography of Attila. The author explores the Hun-Germanic relationship, drawing on late Roman historiography, the ancient German epic tradition, comparative material from the history of the ancient Saks and medieval Mongols-Genghisids. The author comes to the conclusion that Attila’s mating strategy stemmed from the Hunnic social and religious traditions associated with the heritage of the Saco-Massagetian nomadic culture.
