The article deals with the purpose, essence and specificity of audio and video recordings as means of evidence in civil proceedings. Their historical aspect of law enforcement is briefly considered and the relevance of the use of audio and video recordings at the present time is revealed. The point of view is argued that audio and video recordings in civil proceedings are independent evidence, which at the same time have specific features and procedural evidentiary value.
