Audiovisual translation: how to preserve idioms and cultural contexts

This article raises the issue of the transmission of idioms in audiovisual translation. Definitions of the concept of idioms, classifications of idioms and preservation of cultural contexts are considered. Special attention is paid to the importance of preserving the style and imagery of the original text in translation. Based on the analysis of the original (English-language) and translated (Russian-language) versions of the cartoon "Hotel Transylvania" \ "Монстры на каникулах", the translation methods of idioms in audiovisual translation were determined.
