Auto- and heterostereotypes of Russians and Chinese

This paper presents results obtained in experimental studies of auto- and heterostereotypes of Russians and Chinese. The developed questionnaire contains stimulus-questions aimed at studying auto- and heterostereotypes of Russians and Chinese. To analyse and interpret the results of the directed associative experiment, we singled out associative fields of Appearance, Values and Preferences, and National Character. The stimulus-question of the associative field of National Character provoked the highest number of responses. The results of the study can contribute to the issue of predicting international dissent and may improve cross-cultural communication.
