The pandemic as a global existential challenge actualizes the problem of adjusting the perception or rethinking of various value dominants. Among them, one of the key ones is tolerance, which is clearly represented in the axiological matrix of democracy and not so clearly in authoritarianism. The imposition of pandemic restrictions by the State has led to the loss of many familiar freedoms by individuals and, as a consequence, to a change in the private sphere of their existence. The evolution of tolerance has also demonstrated that, despite cultural differences, authoritarian and democratic ruling actors resort to similar forms of restricting the social and political activity of the individual. Transformation of the perception of tolerance in different regimes expressed in its understanding not only as a cultural phenomenon, but also as part of the microphysical, bodily existence of the individual. To analyze tolerance under pandemic conditions, the concept of “tolerance of corporeality” is conceptualized. Revealing its content in the light of democratic and authoritarian rule is the main purpose of the present article.
