The purpose of this article is to study the process of updating genres in folklore, including fairy tales. The tasks are set to cover the periods of the formation and development of the fairy-tale genre and to emphasize its deep philosophical, moral and aesthetic potential. It is concluded that the study of the fairy tale genre is important and relevant at all times.
