Author's art of book ornament of drawing-artist Fedor Basov (the last quarter of the 16th - the beginning of 17th centuries)

The author identifies, using the new - element-structural - method, characteristic techniques of an outstanding master in the manuscript art at the last quarter of the 16th - the first third of the 17th centuries Feodor Sergeev Basov, who developed the tradition of an early printed style. Original peculiarities of his ornamentation were revealed through analysis of headpieces of manuscript, decorated by Feodor Basov. The unique elements and compositional solutions of the ornamentation were analyzed. Fantastic trees, depicted on the frontispieces, were considered. It characterizes the manner of the master as reinterpreted of the tradition of the early printed ornaments and created personal option. The results of the research were accompanied with tables, where the main classification of unique techniques of the master was presented.
