Belarusian advocacy needs an improvement

Purpose: To analyze the effectiveness of the legal regulation of the institution of advocacy in the Republic of Belarus. Methodology: Legalistic and historical methods were used. Results: A comprehensive analysis of the law and practice of the Belarusian advocacy was carried out, proposals were made to improve the legislation, taking into account European and Russian experience. Novelty/originality/value: The paper expresses the author’s approach to the organization and activities of advocacy in Belarus, notably his opinion that there is a lack of opportunities for effective protection of the rights of citizens in criminal proceedings.
