The article analyzes the non-equivalence of words in Russian-Mongolian languages dictionaries. It would be ideal for dictionary user to find full compliance of meanings of words of the two languages. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. The author concludes that the disparity between input and output words in dictionaries is caused by social, cultural and economic differences. Equivalence of words in linguistic aspect depends on many factors, including the elaboration of the system of meanings of polysemantic words in explanatory dictionaries of both languages, while in extra-linguistic aspect it depends on commonness of their culture, way of life, economy and direct contact between the two nations. Full match occurs in very rare cases, for example, in words for family: mother, father; and calendar lexicon: Monday, March, year, etc.
