Statement of the problem. The article analyzes biblical allusions in the novel “The Sunken Ark” by Alexei Varlamov. The paradigm of sacred images and motifs in significant episodes of the text is presented. This allows us to clarify the ideological and artistic idea of the writer. On the pages of his work, the author raises important issues of moral self-standing of a person in the modern world when referring to the text of the Holy Scripture. The purpose of the article is to identify the semantics of biblical allusions in the novel “The Sunken Ark” by Alexei Varlamov. The article uses the following methods: cultural-historical, comparative-typological, hermeneutical, and structural-semiotic analysis of the text. Research results. Christian culture plays an important role in the life and work of A. Varlamov. In his texts, the writer refers to the Bible as a source of philosophical and ideological principles. At the heart of the narrative of the novel “The Sunken Ark” is the fate of mankind. The author expresses his views on the split of the Orthodox Church and the moral decline of the modern world. The “End of the World” motif emphasizes the eschatological nature of the events in the novel. Archetypal images of Jesus, Virgin Mary, Antichrist, and False Prophet illuminate the figures of the key characters. On the pages of the author's myth, Biblical allusions allow us to connect the sacred history and the literary version of existence proposed by the modern author in an intertextual discourse.
