The article is devoted to the study of the role of biblical metaphors and symbols in the early Eurasian works of P. N. Savitsky. The influence of P. N. Savitsky’s religiosity on the content and form of his works, the reasons for using biblical comparisons, the thematic relevance of objects of metaphorization and metaphorical symbolic elements proper, as well as the significance of metaphors and symbols as tools of knowledge are analyzed. The difference between a symbol and a metaphor in the sense of epistemological potential is shown on the basis of the conception of A. F. Losev. A review of biblical metaphors and comparisons in Savitsky’s articles from the Eurasian collections “Exodus to the East” (1921) and “On the Ways” (1922) is carried out. The identified metaphors and comparisons are subjected to study and systematization. Particular attention is paid to the symbols of the Exodus and the “favorable year of the Lord”, as well as a metaphor referring to the biblical story of Susanna and the elders.
