The biblical doctrine about the purpose of God’s creation of the world

Бесплатный доступ

The article examines the Old Testament teaching about the purpose of God’s creation of the world in the light of the New Testament Revelation and the Church tradition of exegesis. For the Old Testament fragments revealing the reason for God’s creation of the world (Prov 8:29b-31 and 16:4), a philological analysis of the Hebrew text is performed, possible interpretations are indicated, and examples of various translations are given. The ancient Greek text of fragments of the Epistles of St. Paul (Col 1:16 and Rom 11:36), revealing the purpose of the creation of the world, is analyzed. Examples are given from patristic exegesis, which synthesizes the teaching of Solomon and the Apostle Paul and allows us to see in the features of the Hebrew text of Prov 16:4 not a philological incident, but a skillful idea of the sacred author.
