Library and information policy as a sphere of scientific interests IFLA

The article explores issues of development and realization of library and information policy in national and regional context by the IFLA - the key organization representing the interests of library and information organizations and citizens. Results of research on the use of the terms «library policy» and «information policy» in publications of «IFLA Journal» (2003-2013) are represented. The article reflects the process of the institutionalization of the working out of the national and regional policy. The scope of the «National Information and Library Policy» special interest group is analyzed. The accent is made on cooperative endeavors concerning policy forming in the rapidly changing world; sharing the experience of working out in different countries.
