Library profession in the information society

The article reveals the necessity of the theoretical and methodological innovations in the study of library profession. The aim of forestalling social risks of librarianship development in the information society. There are six main problems of studying the library profession and their solutions are offered. The feasibility of the methodological communication library science and sociology is proved. The paper determines the need for taking into account the specific information as the global social process. It unveils the theoretical sociological and neoinstitutional approaches' to library profession potential.
