Library as a space of socio-cultural interaction with young people

The presented article is focused on the changed role of the library and its becoming a multifunctional center that serves various needs of the population in creativity, leisure and information. In the course of the research the authors highlight the main challenges faced by this socio-cultural institution and illustrate how this has influenced the specifics of library activity. The practical part of the article is concerned with innovative practices of interaction with the younger generation in one of the model libraries of our country - the Central City Library named after S.A. Esenin (Lipetsk). The authors describe in detail the mechanism of youth involvement in socio-cultural activities, reveal the features of the realization of a certain number of creative projects, especially attracting the attention of the younger generation and directed not only to the development of creative skills, but also to the formation of reading competencies.
