The article presents an overview of the main ideas of the Catholic theologian G. TanzellaNitti how to realize the project of fundamental theology in a context of contemporary scientific knowledge. It is shown that fundamental theology cannot ignore the achievements of modern scientific knowledge especially in the investigation of such traditional topics as credibility of Divine Revelation, and in building the theology of creation. Fundamental theology in a context of science have to be a research laboratory for the development of theology, which can engage in dialogue with the public world. This project of laboratory has its goal to honestly discuss any problem issues and to develop some solutions in the framework of research programs. It is emphasized that with the development of scientific knowledge, the question about God continues to be relevant because the grandeur picture of the universe, opened by modern science, asks for meaning. The revelation of God in creation continues to be no less significant than in the past. It is shown that despite many difficulties of such a dialogue, associated with the wide specialization of sciences and the expansion of our knowledge about the world, fundamental theology today is still able to meet any challenges and to be actual.
