Hospital churches in the orthodox culture of the modern Russia (semiotic and artistic meanings)

This article deals with the role and value of hospital churches in the Orthodox culture of Russia. The semi-otic and artistic meanings of the temple, interaction of medicine and church are discussed. The author focuses on the multi-functionality of the hospital church, as well as the value of icons in the temple interior.
