The article considers the problem of teaching the doctrine of divine attributes (in the traditional nomenclature - essential properties) in Russian dogmatic theology. The specificity of dogmatic theology as an academic discipline is shown; the chronological framework of the period of emergence and formation of theological academy science is indicated; a review of the key dogmatic theology works of the 18th - early 20th century Russian theological science is carried out. Also, specific examples demonstrate the place and content of the divine attributes doctrine in Orthodox dogmatic theology. If necessary, the methodological principles underlying the rubrication and presentation of the material are indicated. The complication or simplification of rubrication, as well as the changes in the arrangement of both specific properties within the general structure (wisdom, goodness, etc.), and the mutual arrangement of sections (the question of the unity of God’s essence) are exemplified. It is concluded that since dogmatics primarily has the goal of presenting the positive Church doctrine based on Divine Revelation, the study of divine attributes within the framework of other disciplines, and hence other approaches, can contribute to the development of theological academy science.
