The article discusses Mikhail A.Bulgakov‘s novel in terms of its cinematic nature.Attention is given not so much to typological interaction or genetic relationship be-tween the work of Bulgakov and the films of the 1920s, as to the cinematic "histo-ry" of the work. We investigate the "cinematic thinking" of the writer, defining thefeatures of composition, the principles of introducing characters in the text, meth-ods tocreate image of the world. It is suggested that the movie have been acted asa source of motifs and imagery for the writer, a sample of artistic text at the levelof space-time correlation, and way to create images of characters. It is emphasizedthat visual rhythm takes on special importance in Bulgakov's text.
