Bulgakov as a "verbal movie master" (about cinematic reading of "The Master and Margarita" novel)

The article discusses Mikhail A.Bulgakov‘s novel in terms of its cinematic nature.Attention is given not so much to typological interaction or genetic relationship be-tween the work of Bulgakov and the films of the 1920s, as to the cinematic "histo-ry" of the work. We investigate the "cinematic thinking" of the writer, defining thefeatures of composition, the principles of introducing characters in the text, meth-ods tocreate image of the world. It is suggested that the movie have been acted asa source of motifs and imagery for the writer, a sample of artistic text at the levelof space-time correlation, and way to create images of characters. It is emphasizedthat visual rhythm takes on special importance in Bulgakov's text.
