Aims and tasks of general cultural competency forming in teaching ecology for future managers

Higher education based on competence approach assumes the result of training as the ability to apply knowledge, skills and personal qualities in professional activity in a certain area. The paper underlines the importance of general cultural training that focuses future specialist on universal values, allows to understand a situation and to solve problems in various fields of activity, to develop personally and professionally. The paper is aimed to highlight the problem of general cultural competency forming. The methods used are: analysis of the literature on the topic of the research, dialectic synthesis of the concept “formation of general cultural competency”; the analysis of educational standards and legal documents in the sphere of higher education. Goals and objectives setting of general cultural competency forming is exemplified by the competence “knowledge and understanding of the laws of nature, society and mind development and the ability to handle this knowledge in professional activity”. The detailed description of general cultural competency “knowledge and understanding of the laws of nature, society and mind development and the ability to handle this knowledge in professional activity” was given. Justification of the need to form general cultural competency of future specialists that stimulates the solving of personally significant and professional tasks makes the novelty of the research. Theoretical value of the paper is the improved knowledge of scientific ideas about the formation of general cultural competency.
