Value Specification in Law Enforcement Officers’ Personal and Professional Motivation

Abstract. Introduction. The aim is to find out the peculiarities of value components of consciousness that motivate officers to appropriately perform service and professional activity according to external and internal factors of personality development. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted in 2017–2018. The sample consisted of more than 6,000 respondents with higher education, representatives of 9 federal districts of the Russian Federation and 8 areas (specialities) of law enforcement. The Ritchie- Martin multidimensional personality research methodology was used, as well as correlation and dispersion analysis of data. Results and Discussion. The authors reveal the peculiarities of value components of consciousness as motivating factors of service and professional activities of police officers according to external and internal conditions of personality development, which include the region of residence, ethno-cultural and professional pressure, as well as gender and age status and character-related features of respondents. Conclusions. Statistically significant differences of value variables of representatives of the regions of the Russian Federation with ethno-cultural peculiarities, of different specialities, different gender and age, and having different character-related status were confirmed.
