The article investigates valuable attitude of future applied arts and design teachers to their profession. A review of scientific literature on personal and professional qualities of vocational training teachers has shown that duality of the profile, within which designers are trained as specialists and teachers, causes different approaches to identification of professionally significant qualities. We have substantiated the necessity of defining the concept of professionally significant qualities of applied arts and design teachers. Several approaches to definition of this concept in scientific literature are considered. It is observed that the list of professionally significant qualities varies considerably among authors, and their definitions are rather subjective. At the same time, most researchers note that professionally significant qualities are associated with valuable attitude of future teachers to their profession, and allow them to achieve professional growth and labor productivity. The survey data and their analysis make it possible to conclude that creativity in professional activity of future applied arts and design teachers prevails over its pedagogical component.
