Value attitudes of adults in psychological counseling

Introduction. The problems of the development of modern counseling frequently result from the situation that many specialists do not comprehensively take into account the impact of clients’ value attitudes, their role in successful counseling, in the productive and effective tackling current barriers and masks that hinder the development of the client and prevent him from becoming what he can be. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the manifestation and nature of the change in the value attitudes of adults in the process of their psychological counseling. The object of the study covers the value attitudes in life situations of adults and their representation in psychological counseling. The subject of the study includes counseling manifestations of the value attitudes of adults in the process of psychological counseling and their analysis. The novelty of the research lies in the attempt to study the peculiarities of the manifestation and transformation of the value attitudes of adults in the process of psychological counseling. Results and Discussion. Value attitudes are a set of human needs and ways of representing and experiencing the world, which explain the existing variety of meanings of human life as a person, partner and professional. Value orientations can be defined as a person's focus on the appropriation, maintenance and approval in his life of certain values that become more or less common goals of his life, the foundations for building and transforming of relationships with himself and other people, grounds for understanding internal and external reality, for making life choices and actions based on them, appropriation and transformation of behavior patterns and interactions (communication). Conclusions. The value attitudes of adults are connected with the daily practices of their life: 1) value attitudes are revealed in internal and external conflicts, in decision-making and making a crucial choice, which is confirmed by the ratio of experiencing a vacuum, value mismatches and their relationship with the fundamental motivations of existential fulfillment; 2) the assistance of a counseling psychologist in reflecting on the value bases of choice enables an adult to realize the role of value attitudes both in crisis and in everyday practices of their life.
