Текст научной статьи Characteristic of translation art in English

Summing up the work done, it should be noted once again that translation is a social phenomenon that was formed during the development of society itself and as a result, today it is an integral part of society. At the same time, the importance of translation today consists primarily in the fact that almost all people on the planet today need a constant replenishment of information, and the significant interest of all countries in the development of translation activities follows from here.

In preparing for the translation of a text, the translator must be prepared to face a number of difficulties. In particular, with the absence of analogues in the native language, since the language can include not only obsolete, but also foreign words that can render the translator bad service, the so-called “false friends”, which at first glance are understandable, but with on the other hand, they have a completely different basis - different from the implied.

Consequently, the quality of the translation will depend on the experience and qualification of the translator.

And of course, it is important to take into account the fact that the importance of translation today consists primarily in the fact that almost all people on the planet today need constant replenishment of information, and this implies the significant interest of all countries in the development of translation activities. In addition, human speech includes both simple and complex expressions, a number of which are fixed in their composition and have strong connections among themselves. Similar turns - phraseological units or translation units, various jargon or neologisms make certain difficulties for the normal work of translators. To this end, they are systematized, combined into dictionaries, but not a single dictionary of the world can keep up with the process of word formation, and therefore, speaking about the theory of translation, it is necessary first of all to take into account that it is this field of knowledge that allows us to systematize and subordinate the work with text to the rules, and therefore achieve the most adequate translation where difficulties arise.

The process of development of translation in society was wave-like, but only in the twentieth century this field of activity became available to the general population and for more than half a century people around the world have been reading books in the original, watching films without translation, developing in the field of linguistics and this trend does not subside.

Speaking about scientific translation, it should be noted that this is a translation of the text, which is based on the written work of the translator, an adequate approach to its content and the search for the most suitable approaches to its translation according to the grammatical forms available in the text. At the same time, no one can limit the translator in choosing, moreover, the same text can contain a variety of words that will require a special approach to learning, and therefore flexibility and the ability to adapt to the requirements and content of the text, as well as the professionalism and level of knowledge of the translator is the key to a successful translation.

But all this is only in theory. But in practice, the translator has to deal with various features that characterize scientific translation as specific and very complex. There are a lot of specific features of translating scientific texts from English into Russian, but the main difficulty and specifics of working with a foreign scientific text is that many words in a foreign language are either consonant in pronunciation with their native language, or are similar to those words that everyone knows and the result is an incorrect translation, as the translator may decide that this word is easily translated and will translate it incorrectly. Even large specialists cannot avoid problems, but it is possible to minimize them, provided that the translation is accurate and verbatim.
