Numerical simulation of diffusion with traps: statistics in the one-dimensional space

The process of particle diffusion in random media is studied in many works. However, despite this, issues such as changes in the nature of diffusion processes in random medium, the possibility of phase transitions in electric fields, and the asymptotic behavior of the survival probability of diffusing particles when captured by traps remain are not well-researched. Paper describes a series of numerical experiments for one-dimensional space. Authors describes algorithms of particle diffusion simulation for random placement of absorbing traps. Paper describes the experimental methodology and results. The authors pay main attention to the number of surviving particles analysis, both from the number of iterations and from the concentration of traps. The results obtained generally confirm theoretical predictions; new patterns of capture by traps were discovered, and the dependence of the capture time on traps on particle concentration was established.
