"The reader" as a character in Russian literature of the second half of the 19th century (examplified by Ivan Kalashnikov’s novel "Exiles")

The article investigates the techniques and peculiarities of dialogical interaction between the author and the reader in historical novel of the first third of the 19th century. Ivan T. Kalashnikov’s novel “The Exiles” (1834) is used as. Basing on the study of receptive-communicative model “the author - the hero - the reader” we analyzed the complex of techniques aimed at forming a complete readers’ perception. The article considers interaction between the author and the reader with the help of linguistic and extra linguistic techniques, as well as the peculiarities of their communication. The analysis of the given techniques allows us to reveal and describe in details different types of readers. It has been stated that the text contains direct and hidden techniques, which create the image of a reader in historical novel and which are the elements of the uniform system of interaction. As a result of the study the dominance of the implicit reader’s image in the structure of a novel has been revealed.
