Reading as a tool of socialization personality of the digital age

The author analyzes the mechanism of reading influence on the process of socialization of an individual through the enhancement of their cultural competence - the basic indicator of the National Program of reading support and development. The positive and negative aspects of mass digitalization and its influence on reading processes in the digital age are considered. Characterized by the role of cultural competence of the individual in the ability to perceive and evaluate the resulting textual information. The provision on the nonuniformity of the process of reading the text is substantiated and its main stages are determined: from information-orientation to cognitive-synthetic. The types of reading are considered: instrumental, educational, equitable, recreational and their influence on the process of socialization of the individual. It is concluded that the work to promote reading and the formation of reading culture is an important factor in the socialization of the individual and a necessary condition for the formation of a harmonious person capable of productive and creative activities in the information and knowledge society.
