The aim of the research is to identify the principles of metaphorization in terms of the intersectability of mental spaces. The material of the observations is the lexis of anxiety with a metaphorically derived meaning, recorded in the Russian language explanatory dictionaries and in the thesaurus of emotive lexis “Alphabet of Emotions”. The total amount is estimated as 360 lexical units, which are made up 42 % of the entire class of emotives with the semantics of anxiety. The study was conducted in parallel on the material lexical base and its speech functioning, that allowed us to identify both deep semiological processes and models of mental integration of anxiety with various phenomena of the surrounding world, as well as external syntagmatic models of such integration, which have a regular character. The analysis of the material is carried out using a complex of linguistic methods: component, context and cognitive-discourse analysis, linguistic
