The article presents the results of the empirical study of ESSIC students’ behavior in the digital environment of the scientific library. The aim of the work is to identify the degree of the demand for information products and services, evaluate the effectiveness of the existing communication channels, and determine the users’ preferences in the context of the phenomenon «clip thinking». During the online survey (n=113) the data on the frequency and purpose of the visits to the library, sources of information about the library services, and preferences for the digital content formats have been obtained. The results demonstrated a high significance of social media (VKontakte community, in particular) as a main communication channel, prevalence of short, visually rich formats (short videos, infographics), and the necessity of further adaptation of library content to the digital habits of modern generation. The obtained findings formed the basis for recommendations for optimizing the library’s digital strategy in improving service quality.
