This article discusses the impact of digital transformation on the transportation sector. The definition of “digital transformation” and its evolution in recent years are revealed. The trend towards the introduction of digitalization elements in Russian companies, as well as the activities of Russian Railways in the field of digital development strategy are presented. The authors consider digital transformations through the optimization of the company's business processes based on digital technologies and creating digital products. The efficiency of optimization was evaluated on the example of digital format of interaction with the client, the features of digital culture development through the introduction of optimization digital tools were revealed: electronic document management, smart contract, and blockchain. A client-oriented approach is presented, with the possibility of connecting shippers to the automated ETRAN system, which accumulates business processes of the electronic environment in a time-saving mode for performing various functions. The proposals include the expansion of service options aimed at raising customer awareness.
