Digital society as a new stage of the information society

Institutional changes are taking place in many areas. They affect the economy, politics, social sphere of society. In modern conditions, digital technologies are of particular relevance. The article presents a comparative assessment of the characteristics and features of the digital and information society, analyzes the main stages of the formation of the digital society, shows that the digital society is a new stage in the cycle of development of the information society.
