Quoting the epistles in Russian homiletic literature of the 18th century: traditions and innovations

The paper focuses on the manner of quoting the New Testament’ wording in Russian Orthodox church sermons of the 18th century in relation to the Old Russian traditions of quoting. The study has found out that sermons of that period reproduced all basic features of quotation but yet they insignificantly modified an Old Church Slavonic source with Russian lexical and grammatical details in order to make it intelligible for the contemporary audience.
