Civilizational approach to a historical and pedagogical investigation of musical national-oriented education in Russia

The article investigates national-oriented musical education in the context of the search for a strategy of its development in present-day federative Russia. The idea of such national-oriented strategy to-day emerges through a civilisational analysis seen as a means of determining basal cultural concepts underlying goals and means of musical education. At the same time the author emphasizes axiological approach as a nucleus of musical education. The approach aims at formation of a system of values; the latter can be variously interpreted as basical, confessional (Russian-orthodox), educational, public-oriented, cosmopolitical etc. The author argues that the basis of musical education in present-day Russia should be a balance of national and all-mankind values.
