A Civilizational Approach to the Study of Eurasian Integration

Free access

The article examines the civilizational approach as a methodological foundation for studying integration processes in Eurasia. It demonstrates that classical theories of international integration, developed primarily on the basis of the European experience, have limited explanatory potential when applied to Eurasian integration, where cultural-historical and identity-related factors play an important role. The author proposes an original interpretation of civilizational integration as a distinct type of integration based on the interaction between objective cultural-historical factors and subjective civilizational identity. The study also proposes a system of fundamental civilizational markers, including language, religion, and historical memory. The article concludes that the civilizational approach expands the methodological possibilities for studying integration processes in the context of the emerging multipolar world order.
