Deficiencies in volunteer activities in the system of higher education (by the example of Altai krai and Sverdlovsk oblast)

The article examines the peculiarities of the development of volunteerism in the system of higher education by the example of the Altai and Sverdlovsk regions. Students of higher education institutions are the main participants in volunteer activities in the regions and at the same time a sustainable volunteer resource. On the basis of the expert session held in the summer of 2022 in the universities of these regions deficits in volunteer activities were identified and options to address them were proposed. For instance, the internal problems of volunteering include severe emotional burnout and lack of motivation among students, and the external ones include narrowing of volunteer meanings and insufficient professional support of volunteer activity organizers in the university environment. Sharing experiences and resources available to university volunteer centers will make the work of participants in the youth volunteer movement more effective.
