Activities of the commissioner for human rights in the system of protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of persons sentenced to imprisonment

The appearance of the institution of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia aims to increase the level of functioning of the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, including those convicted and serving a sentence of imprisonment. The authors consider the legal basis of the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and its territorial representatives in its subjects, its role and the main activities for the protection of human rights. Using the example of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Kaluga region, the authors consider the practical component of activities to ensure the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of convicts.
