The peculiarity of the influence of migration on the population formation in Kazakhstan lies in the fact that it was one of the factors in the development of regionalization. The start to this process was given in the 1920s during the nation-state demarcation. The migration processes of the 1940s-1950s strengthened the regionalization of the territory of the Kazakh SSR, clearly forming regions according to economic and ethnic characteristics. It happened when representatives of various ethnic groups were resettled to the republic in the voluntary, organized, and forcible manner. It is connected with the fact that in economic terms (taking into account national characteristics) the agricultural Southern Economic Region and the industrial Northern, Eastern, and Central Economic Regions were formed. In ethnic terms, regions with a predominantly Kazakh (Southern and Western Economic Regions) and European (Eastern, Northern, and Central Economic Regions) population consolidated their hold.
