Introduction. The 20th century for the Russian society became known as a period of constant attempts of democratic reforms and reformatting of the state based on the experience of Western countries with liberal-Protestant ideology. The aim is to examine the objective and subjective reasons for the Russian citizens’ declining interest in elections, to identify the main trends in the development of spheres of society.
