Denazification of Nazi Germany libraries in the context of modern socio-political realities

The article is devoted to the analysis of the experience of denazification of libraries in Nazi Germany after the end of World War II and its use to work with library collections in new territories annexed to the Russian Federation. Separate fragments of the regulatory framework for the denazification of Germany, created by the countries of the anti Hitler coalition, are considered. Special attention is paid to the activities of the Soviet Military Administration in Germany (SWAG) to coordinate the work on clearing libraries in the Soviet occupation zone of Nazi literature. Attention is focused on the different approaches to this problem of the allies of the USSR, the USA and Great Britain. The publication briefly outlines the process of spreading Nazi ideology on the territory of Ukraine. The analysis of the participation of libraries in the dissemination of nationalist ideas among the population of the country is given. The main focus is on the Russophobic actions of the Ukrainian authorities to withdraw Russian literature from the libraries. In conclusion, a number of proposals are presented for using the experience of denazification of German libraries in modern conditions.
