Determinants favoring crimes committed by organized criminal groups

The article reviews the history of the studies dealing with the determinants of crimes committed by organized groups. The author distinguishes sets of determinants: socio-economic, political, ideological, legal, and others, including worsening of the crime rate under the influence of the crisis phenomena, political instability in the society, the ability of an organized criminal group to recover, the criminal subculture. It is concluded that the research of the causes and favourable conditions for establishment of criminal groups makes it possible to plan activities aimed at their elimination.
