Diagnosis and surgical treatment of asymptomatic nonparasitic spleen cyst (clinical observation)

Бесплатный доступ

Nonparasitic cysts of the spleen are rare diseases, often having an asymptomatic course. Their classification includes two main groups: true cysts lined with epithelium, and false cysts without epithelial lining. Modern non-invasive diagnostic methods have increased the percentage of detectability of this pathology. Without surgical treatment, nonparasitic cysts lead to a number of complications: suppuration, hemorrhage into the cyst cavity and its rupture. Historically, splenectomy was the main surgical method, but complete removal of the organ, especially at a young age, often led to life-threatening infectious complications. Minimally invasive methods of treatment, including laparoscopic fenestration, have replaced open surgery. The presented clinical observation clearly demonstrates the possibilities of modern diagnosis and surgical treatment of this pathology.
