Diagnosis and treatment of bladder pain syndrome: results of a survey of urologists in the Russian Federation

Introduction. Interstitial cystitis (IC) remains one of the causes of chronic pelvic pain. Current treatment methods do not allow complete control of the patient's symptoms. The lack of uniform diagnostic and treatment algorithms motivates specialists to use the recommendations of communities, which may differ from each other. The purpose of the study is to study the approaches of Russian doctors to the diagnosis and treatment of IC. Material and methods. The Department of Urology of the Russian University of Medicine conducted an observational analytical study from 2022 to 2023: a survey of urologists in order to study the issue of diagnosis and treatment of IC in the Russian Federation. Respondents were asked 25 questions. 86 urologists took part in the survey, 57 of them fully answered all the questions asked. The survey was possible through the online platform SurveyMonkey based on the urological portal Uroweb.ru. Statistical analysis. Methods of descriptive statistics were used for the purpose of data analysis.
