Diagnostics of University Students’ Emotional Attitude to the Profession of a Psychologist

Introduction. One of the important problems of modern higher education is the student's activity in the process of mastering the future profession, professionalization. The aim of the research is to reveal the emotional component of students’ individual attitude to their future profession of a psychologist. Materials and Methods. The study used the method of "Personal differential", with the option of processing and analyzing the results to identify the emotional component of the attitude of psychology students to their future profession proposed by the authors. Thirty-seven first-year students and thirteen second-year students of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy of Omsk State Pedagogical University were examined. Results and Discussion. The "Personal differential" technique made it possible to measure the emotional component of students' personal attitude to their future profession of a psychologist, to reveal the types and levels of emotional attitude and establish its influence on the active professionalization. Based on the results of the attitude to the profession the authors carried out correctional and developmental work to form professional interest and vocation. Conclusions. "Personal differential" technique is rather effective and helpful in differentiation of personal emotional attitude according to various aspects, it reveals contradictory emotional attitude toward future work of a psychologist. The authors find it reasonable to perform task-oriented work related to professionalization of psychology students based on the results of the diagnostics.
