The problem of the formation of the concepts "abstract" and "concrete" as a necessary tool of the dialectical approach in the process of cognition is considered. The complex historical process in the relations of the studied categories is reflected. The author substantiates the idea that only theoretical abstraction has the property of penetrating into the essence and nature of things, establishing their actual concreteness. The work has a constructive pedagogical potential in teaching philosophy.
